Request to Extend NY HELPS Through June 2028: The Department is pleased to share that we will be requesting an extension of the NY HELPS program for both state and local use beyond June 2026 from the New York State Civil Service Commission. The Department will be proposing an extension through June 30, 2028, at the upcoming May Civil Service Commission meeting, which takes place on May 13, 2026.

This extension will ensure operational continuity during the transformation transition period and will allow more time for a strategic and efficient rollout of the new Jobs Portal and Applicant Management System for the future of open-competitive hiring in New York State. As we have shared with you previously, the Department is finalizing the analysis period for our new Jobs Portal and Applicant Management System. After this analysis period, the Department will have more information to share on the overall project timeline and the approach for implementation.
